What is a gunyo cholo ceremony?
Gunyo cholo is a coming-of-age ceremony for girls in many Nepali families. The girl wears her first gunyu (a sari-like wrap) and cholo (blouse), usually given by her maternal uncle, and receives blessings from the family. It is often held before she turns thirteen and followed by a family feast.
